Alain Richard (1926-2017) was a French designer, a pioneer of modern industrial design. Born in Paris, he studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. In the 1950s, he gained recognition for his minimalist and functional style, influenced by modernism. Founding his agency in 1952, he collaborated with publishers like Meubles TV and Pierre Disderot, creating timeless furniture and lighting. His works, such as the “AR” chair or the “Richard” lamp, combine simplicity, ergonomics, and elegance. Awarded the René Gabriel Prize, his work remains a benchmark in French design.
