Born in 1932, Jean-Claude Malarmey trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Reims, and joined his classmates Dominique Baudart and Robert Pérot in Vallauris in 1954 at Jean Rivier’s studio. Then they create all three, the Atelier du Vieux Moulin, at the top of Vallauris. He founded his workshop in 1957, and produced wood-fired pieces. These are recognizable by enamels with muted colors of beige, red, brown, green or light blue. It has a large production of common ceramics, and a few stronger personal pieces.
