Léa Mestres, born in 1992 in Paris, is a French designer and artist. Trained at ESAD in Reims and the Design Academy in Eindhoven, she founded Studio Mousse in 2017, now based in Vernon, Giverny. Her playful, colorful work challenges the overly serious, masculine design world. Inspired by Niki de Saint Phalle’s vibrant colors and Wendell Castle’s asymmetry, she creates sculptural furniture and lamps, blending humor with organic forms. Using plaster and foam, her pieces, like Craving for Crepi or Babette, bear feminine names, embodying unique personalities. She rejects industrialization for joyful, anthropomorphic designs.
