Mado Jolain was born in Paris in 1921. Trained at the Ecole des arts décoratifs in Paris, Mado Jolain also attended the workshop of La Grande Chaumière where she met her husband, the painter René Legrand. In 1946, she moved to a studio on Rue d’Alésia. She participated in the Salon des artistes décorateurs and the Salon de l’Imagerie. Her success is certain. Colette Gueden, the High Priestess of L’Atelier Primavera at the Printemps store, draws on her talent. She exhibits regularly in Parisian galleries: L’Arcade, Porte Etroite or Galerie du Siècle. In 1955, the prestigious Galerie La Demeure Place Saint-Sulpice presented his work. In the early 1960s, Mado Jolain developed new ceramic lines for the garden. She stopped working as a ceramicist in 1970.
