Pierre Roulot was born in 1917 in Gevrey-Chambertin. After the war, he attended the courses of the free academies of drawing in Montparnasse. He rubs shoulders with sculptors Paul Belmondo, Antoniucci Volti, Charles Despiau, who encourage him to exhibit his drawings, watercolours and paintings. He also tried to carve. Then he decided to work the land. In 1947, he was sponsored by Jean Mayodon to exhibit at La Crémaillère his statuettes inspired by popular art. From 1949, he worked occasionally for Pol Chambost, and also Georges Jouve. In 1957, Pierre Roulot exhibited at Steph Simon’s gallery in Paris and became a ‘resident’ creator for the gallery.
