He graduated from the Ecole de C\u00e9ramique de Chavannes-Rennens in 1952, worked for two years in Lausanne, then came to Paris. He was employed as a turner in various workshops, mainly at the Cloutiers brothers. In 1956, and for ten years, he worked in Vallauris in the workshops of Jean Rivier, Juliette Derel, Robert P\u00e9rot, Jean-Claude Mallarmey, Dominique Baudart, Georges Cueille, and Roger Capron. He opened his studio in 1966. His pieces are characterized by enamel in muted shades of white, beige, brown, or blue; more rarely red. His wife Marie-France Bartolo worked with him from about 1967 to 1980, and introduced abstract decoration in light bas-relief.
